Frequently Asked Questions

No! Membership is optional, but it does have its perks.  Members enjoy a reduced class entry fee and are eligible for year-end awards if volunteer and participation criteria are met.  Non-members may enter shows and are eligible to be awarded show ribbons, both class and High Point, as well as any day prizes being awarded. 

Member entry fee is $5 per class.  Non-member entry fee is $7 per class

Yes!  You may join at any point during the year.  Fees increase by $5 after 2nd Quarterly meeting.  It is helpful for the points keeper if you submit your membership application via email prior to the show to be entered into the system ahead of time.

BJSC awards no prize money.  Ribbons are given as a token of your accomplishment and points are kept for year-end awards, such as belt buckles, trophies, saddle pads, tack, buckets and horse health items.  Depending on sponsorships, day prizes may be awarded at some shows. 

BJSC is a not-for-profit organization that functions from the generous support of donors and sponsors.  Sponsorship can be given in the form of monetary donations, prize item donations or by providing the use of facilities or obstacles to be used in classes.  Sponsors are verbally acknowledged at shows and events, listed on our website and social media and can provide banners to be hung on show days.
